1. Product Overview
FBM208 is a hybrid mixed AI/AO fieldbus module in Foxboro Compact 200 Series I/O family, integrating 4-channel analog acquisition and 4-channel closed-loop analog output with readback feedback, designed for medium-complexity process control loops requiring both measurement and regulating valve drive in one single module, widely deployed in thermal power, petrochemical and offshore platform DCS control systems.
Each channel adopts independent galvanic isolation, signal range 0–20.4mA DC, fully compatible with standard 4–20mA transmitters and HART smart positioners without extra signal conditioning hardware. The unique output readback circuit continuously samples actual loop current, internally compares against DCS output setpoint; once deviation exceeds ±2%, the module marks the channel faulty and uploads alarm to operator HMI, effectively hidden faults like valve coil open-circuit, actuator drift and wiring loose contact that ordinary AO modules cannot identify.
Equipped with high-resolution sigma-delta analog-to-digital conversion, overall measurement accuracy ±0.3%FS, low temperature coefficient 50PPM/℃, software configurable integration time to filter 50/60Hz power frequency interference, stable measurement under heavy factory electromagnetic noise environment. Every channel integrates current limiting and transient surge suppression circuit, avoiding full module burnout caused by field miswiring short-circuit.
Supports FBM pair master-tracker redundant architecture: two FBM208 share one common TA terminal base via redundant adapter, both modules run synchronous control logic; primary module undertakes normal regulation, standby tracker follows loop state in real time; millisecond-level seamless switchover occurs without flow/pressure fluctuation if main module fails, eliminating single-point failure risk of critical control loops such as furnace pressure, feed flow and reactor temperature adjustment.
Communicates with upper FCM gateway via dual redundant 2Mbps HDLC fieldbus, single-width compact mechanical structure saves cabinet layout space, matched with AD916CC multi-layer shielded cable for centralized cabinet marshalling wiring. Conforms to ISA S71.04 G3 harsh environment standard, resistant to dust, high humidity and weak chemical volatile gas; optional IPC-CC-830 conformal coating for offshore salt-fog corrosive control rooms.
This FBM208 mixed analog I/O module is core spare regulating I/O hardware for I/A Series DCS cabinets, used for new DCS cabinet construction, old system technical transformation and routine analog loop fault replacement maintenance.
